A reward for myself today to acknowledge what I accomplished this week.
The Big Corner Office
Well, here we go! Just over a decade ago, I decided to leave a high-paying job I was recruited for in another country and then started working for myself so I could focus on the work-life balance that I wanted, to be with my children as much as possible while they grew up. And now that my crew is mature & responsible enough to handle what they need to do on their own, the good news is I’ve landed a full-time job with benefits starting in mid-December.
And on top of this, the even better news is I’m still able to run my own business in the evenings and weekends alongside my creative efforts & non-profit work, because I’ve always designed it all to be as flexible as possible to fit around what I needed to do for family. (FYI – you can contact me here if you’d like me to create or update your website.) And instead of playing safe and thinking small, in 2024 I will be working with my crew on our most ambitious projects yet. All from this corner office in my own home. Onward!
Give A Little Bit
It’s a particularly rough time to be making a living as a creative artist, what with A.I. being touted as a replacement for all things creative (reminder: it’s not, at all), and practically every part of day-to-day living becoming more expensive. One thing that I can give to all the people I know who are putting their work out there is a little bit of encouragement and sharing a place where a few more people will see what these artists have created.
And this place would be the Supporting Artists page. My goal is to to add a couple of new links every day, to get over a hundred different offerings by the end of the year. I’m well on track with this goal, as we’re up to about eighty right now. Guess I’ll see how many I’ll add in next year!
And it feels like a good day to watch Supertramp sing their hit, “Give A Little Bit“, don’t you think?
