Injury Corn

We keep a lot of things in our freezer. Pizzas. Blueberries for smoothies. Fish and meat. And bags and bags of vegetables, the vast majority for eating.
Well, you may ask, why would you need it for anything else? Allow me to introduce Injury Corn.

Injury Corn, otherwise known as a bag of frozen corn but set aside to put on injuries to reduce swelling.

And yes, I understand that frozen peas do the job, but for reasons that are known only to God and my children, the bag of vegetables to use when someone hurts themselves has to be Injury Corn.

Houston In The Blind

There are a few movie experiences I have enjoyed in the theatre that I would call marvellous. The opening scene of Gravity is one of them, completely enthralling me and leaving the entire audience silent enough to hear a pin drop.

Dr. Stone working on find a better way to see the world.
Dr. Stone working on find a better way to see the world.
Matt Kowalski enjoying the view on his last space walk ever.
“Can’t beat the view.”
Ryan tumbling off structure.
Off structure.

From the moment Mission Control tells Explorer to abort the mission and up to the moment Ryan and Matt rejoin after she experiences a terrifying tumble through time and space that left her temporarily unable to make sense of what she hears or sees, that seven-and-a-half minutes provided a spellbinding example of what I always hope to experience when I go to see a movie in the theatre.

Stone and Kowalski , hanging by a thread from the ISS.
“It’s not up to you.”

Not long after they rejoin and face the disaster together, Matt makes a decision that’s outside of Ryan’s control – and then we still have two-thirds of a movie left for Ryan to get through the catastrophe she found herself in as best she can, and we all go on one hell of a ride.

Ryan reborn on Earth.
Thankful for another life.

If you haven’t seen it in a while, watch it on the biggest screen with the best audio you can, and enjoy a 90-minute visual & auditory marvel.

The Mail Upon The Midnight Clear

Here’s a quick sneak peek of what the cards that I’m mailing out for December are going to look like.

This was a drawing by my daughter last year that we love so much, we’re turning it into the cover of our cards this year.
