Now that more writers are active on Bluesky, it’s time to highlight how it can play a role in several big parts of your writing life:
1. Completing your project (WRAC)
2. Finding champions for your work & championing other writers’ works (Spec Script Shout Out)
3. Attracting more support on your journey while working on projects (Supporting Artists)
4. Celebrating the words turned into screen magic (Film Chat)
WRAC Is Back
What is WRAC and how do I participate?
Writer accountability, a.k.a. WRAC, was one of the good things about Twitter, and it feels like it’s the right time to bring it back on Bluesky. Writer accountability is about setting public goals and doing your best to stick to them alongside other writers doing the same. If you’re looking to connect with fellow writers, you can find a bunch through @SpecScriptShoutOut. Ready to join in with #WRAC25? Click here!
Want a bit more detail? Here is what’s involved:
- Choose a project you want to work on for 2025. Your project can be a screenplay, teleplay, novel, or anything writing-related (rewrites, short film, proof of concept, pitch books, personal essays, short stories).
- Submit your deadlines and commit to meeting them. We all have different priorities and life challenges, so each writer will be working on separate timelines. You’re encouraged to be realistic in your goal setting and shoot for attainable deadlines. The aim is to complete your project, and ideally get it into the best shape possible so it’s ready for that fellowship or writers lab or contest.
- You will be kept on track with reminders and support. The WRAC25 community will cheer you on with deadline reminders and funny, encouraging gifs as you make your way towards the finish line.
Submissions for #WRAC25 are now open, and the weekly reminders will begin in January 2025.

Spec Script Shout Out
If you’ve read a great unproduced spec script and want to let the world know what a solid job the writer did, then #SpecScriptShoutOut is for you. These shout outs on Bluesky are aimed at getting writers to spread positive word of mouth about someone else’s scripts that they’d feel comfortable recommending themselves. Follow @SpecScriptShoutOut to stay in the loop.
The #SpecScriptShoutOut hashtag can be used any time, and once a quarter we hold a shout out celebration day when we retweet all the shout outs that were posted after the last shout out celebration.

Supporting Artists
And all while you are working on your projects, there’s still the need to pay bills and get your work out in front of people, and this is where the Supporting Artists page comes in. This is one more space where people can find different ways to support artists, like buying their books, watching their shows, supporting their crowdfunding, or maybe simply find a few new artists to follow on Bluesky.
Film Chat
Film Chat will be starting before the end of 2024, and you can join in every Sunday at 11 AM PT/ 2 PM ET/ 7 PM GMT in a globally-coordinated movie screening & discussion on Bluesky by using the #filmchat hashtag and following @FilmChat.
C&B
My good friends over at Cinephilia & Beyond (@cinephiliabeyond) generously share their excellent articles with all of us, which will be highlighted when we watch a movie they have written about on their website.
Special Guests
Sometimes special guests will join us, like actors, directors, screenwriters, producers, and others involved in making screen magic.
